Local models compete for fashion contest’s top ticket to

China while fundraising for the BC Cancer Foundation

June 6, 2013, Richmond, B.C. – It was a night of glamour for a great cause at yesterday’s River Rock Resort ITM-NSR Model Look North America 2013 Gala Dinner & Finale Show benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation.  
 
The top three winners are: First Place Winner Dennika Wheat (#1, 25 years old, from Nanaimo), Second Place Winner Jessie Li (#2, 25 years old, from Vancouver)  and Third Place Winner Jennifer Liu (#3,  18 years old, from Vancouver). Dennika will receive an all-expense paid trip to represent ITM and North America in China’s largest and most prestigious modeling competition– the New Silk Road Model Look contest.
 
Recruitment for ITM 2013 contestants began in February and after the semi-final interviews at the end of March, 10 finalists were chosen.   These 10 continued on to almost two months of intensive training from industry professionals, culminating in the Glamour Finale Show at the River Rock Show Theatre on June 6.   The Finale opened with Tai Chi performance, accompanied by a Guzheng, and was followed by a fashion show featuring 10 finalists and 6 past winners wearing traditional Chinese costumes with a modern twist.
Other fashions featured at the Finale were collaboration and celebration of Chinese fashion industry talents.  The models showcased daywear by OZZO. Next, the models featured China’s swimwear, then local designer’s daywear JAC and Jacqueline Conoir, Vancouver’s fashion Je Vis Couture collection concluded the evening’s fashion. 
In addition to the top three model winners, awards were also given in a number of other categories, Most Photogenic Award Victoria Ediger(#7), Best Presentation Award Dee Wang(#8), Best Catwalk Award Jessie Li (#2), Glamour Model Web Vote Award Joanna Jiang (#5) and Tourism Ambassador Award Sydney Campbell (#9). The fundraising Glamour Gala Dinner benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation was held immediately preceding the Finale.
 
The 5th Glamour Gala Dinner benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation, was held immediately preceding the Finale show. All proceeds from the dinner, as well as ticket sales from the Finale Show, will help support leading-edge research at the BC Cancer Agency. 
 
BC Cancer Foundation President & CEO Douglas Nelson and ITM President James Ho welcomed guests to the dinner.
